Championship memorabilia for sale at Fun Day
By Jimmy White Progress writer
The Prattville High School Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, in conjunction with Jamie Culpepper's Set Free Ministries, will be hosting a Winter Family Fun Day and barbecue cook-off Saturday.
The event will take place on the track and football practice field behind the high school. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside the school gymnasium.
The activities will include free children's inflatable play locations, entertainment by Four By Grace, a Southern Gospel Quartet, games and Christian fellowship. There will be activities for all age groups. The events are open to the public and are free of charge. There will be four divisions for the barbecue prizes -- beef, pork, chicken and wild game.
Proceeds from the event will be applied toward the second annual Prattville High School Christian Leadership scholarships and the Set Free Ministries at Prattville High School, headed by Culpepper.
In additional to the family fun day and barbecue cook-off, the Prattville High School Quarterback Club will have a booth set up to sell championship memorabilia celebrating Prattville High School 2006 Class 6A football championship.
The Quarterback Club will be selling T-shirts in two colors -- one cardinal and one gray -- with the official Prattville High School patented logo. Both long- and short-sleeve shirts will be available. There will also be gray sweatshirts with a black PHS logo and black baseball caps with the cardinal logo.
These shirts, sweaters and caps are the only officially licensed souvenirs that will benefit the high school football team. The school's football program does not receive any funds from the sale of other souvenirs, shirts, caps, etc., that are sold without the official PHS logo.
Scheduled to participate in this event are the PHS football team, First Baptist Church of Prattville, East Memorial Baptist Church, Heritage Baptist Church, Fountain City Baptist Church, Apostolic Church of Christ of Prattville, Camellia Baptist Church, Ridgecrest Baptist Church of Montgomery and Gateway Baptist Church of Montgomery.
Set Free Ministries is a wholly voluntary sponsorship of the Prattville CFA. It is not affiliated or funded by either Prattville High School or the Autauga County Board of Education. Funds are provided by business sponsorships in the local community, and fund-raising events such as the family day.
